UK official says Russia making situation in Syria more dangerous

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) UK Secretary of State for Defence, Michael Fallon, called on Russia Thursday to stop supporting the regime of Bashar Al-Assad and to stop the regime from bombing civilians in Syria.
"Russia is making a very serious situation in Syria much more dangerous, and we will be meeting today to see what we can do to de-escalate this crises, particularly in terms of air safety" he told reporters ahead of a meeting of NATO defence ministers in Brussels.
"We will be calling on Russia specifically to stop propping up the Assad regime, to use their influence constructively to stop Assad bombing his own civilians, and themselves, to avoid the use of unguided munitions in areas that are not controlled by ISIL. And we will also be offering more support to Syriaآ's neighbours, particularly Turkey and Jordan," he said.
"If Russia wants to help here the single most helpful thing they can do would be to use the influence they have on Assad to stop bombing his own civilians, their children, his own cities and villages, thatآ's how Russia could help now to resolve this conflict," he added.
