Kuwait tests civil sirens Tuesday

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Sirens will be tested in the country's six governorates at 10 am on Tuesday, coinciding with guidelines via the media to the public on how to act in emergency situations. Testing is helpful to examine validity and condition of the system, determine whether equipment need maintenance or replacement, according to a statement issued Sunday by the Interior Ministry's Security Media Department, which noted that the testing would be conducted by the civil defense. The civil sirens will blare three tones, each lasting for one minute, and indicating necessity to take different precautionary measures. Procedures that must be taken by individuals and establishments in response to the sirens are to be publicized by the civil defense through media. The official statement affirmed keenness of the civil defense general directorate on conducting such tests to remind citizens and residents of the necessary safety precautions that must be taken in emergencies and hazards. The test will coincide with a media campaign, educating the public about steps that must be taken in response to each tone. It added that intermittent tone signals an imminent danger or catastrophe, wavering tone means danger or attack is happening and steady sound indicates danger or attack is over.
