Ukraine, Estonia Sign Declaration To Strengthen Defense Cooperation

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was announced on the website of the President of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

The document provided for security assistance, the exchange of experience, and cooperation in the defense industry and air defense, including a joint commitment to developing layered missile defense capabilities in Europe.

It was also noted that Ukraine and Estonia are continuing work on an agreement in the form of a Drone Deal. Its draft is already under review by the Estonian side.

At the meeting with Kristen Michal, the head of state informed him about Ukraine's needs in strengthening air defense and work with partners on anti-ballistic protection for all of Europe. The president thanked Estonia for its contributions to the PURL program and said that Ukraine counts on further support.

The sides also discussed the importance of increasing sanctions pressure on Russia and preparing the 21st package of European Union sanctions. Zelensky stressed the importance of introducing tougher measures against Russia's shadow fleet in the Baltic Sea.

Special attention was paid to Ukraine's path toward EU membership. The president said that the country expects all six negotiation clusters to be opened during June and July.

Zelensky thanked Estonia and the prime minister personally for supporting Ukraine and awarded Kristen Michal the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 2nd Class.

As previously reported, today in Tallinn, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs signed a Drone Deal. This is already the sixth agreement in this format that Ukraine has concluded with partners.
