Minister Of Finance Attends Opening Of OECD Ministerial Council Meeting
Paris: The Minister of Finance, H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, attended the opening of the 2026 Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), held under the theme“Getting Industrial Policies Right for Open Markets, Growth and Prosperity” in Paris, France, from June 3 to 4 2026.
His Excellency also participated in a session entitled“Setting the Scene for Industrial Policy Discussion”, alongside a number of ministers, senior officials and policymakers from member countries and partner economies. Participants discussed key global economic challenges and policies that support sustainable economic growth and prosperity.
The discussions explored ways to strengthen international co-operation and co-ordinate efforts to develop flexible and inclusive economic and industrial policies capable of keeping pace with global transformations and supporting long-term sustainable growth. Participants also emphasised the importance of continuing dialogue and exchanging expertise to enhance the effectiveness and resilience of public policies.
The participation of His Excellency the Minister of Finance forms part of ongoing international efforts to strengthen multilateral co-operation and build more resilient economies that are better equipped to address global economic developments, thereby contributing to global growth and economic stability.
Separately, H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Finance, met with H E Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation and Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER), on the sidelines of the 2026 Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development in the French capital, Paris.
During the meeting, they reviewed the cooperative relations between the two countries and explored opportunities for strengthening collaboration in the fields of investment, finance, and economics, in addition to discussing several topics of mutual interest.
