China to Host Pakistan PM as Beijing Reaffirms Support for Mediation Role
(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to host Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Beijing as China reiterates support for Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement in regional mediation efforts, according to official statements.
The visit, scheduled from Saturday to Tuesday, coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. During the trip, Sharif is expected to hold talks with Xi as well as Chinese Premier Li Qiang, focusing on bilateral relations and broader regional developments.
Chinese officials stated that both sides will exchange views on strengthening cooperation and shaping the future direction of ties under changing geopolitical conditions. Beijing also expressed support for Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and encouraging diplomatic solutions in ongoing regional tensions.
The visit follows a period of intensified high-level diplomacy involving major global powers, with recent meetings between Chinese leadership and counterparts from the United States and Russia.
Pakistan’s leadership has been actively engaged in regional mediation efforts, including interactions linked to tensions involving Iran and the United States, as diplomatic channels continue to develop in an effort to maintain a fragile ceasefire arrangement.
Officials also highlighted parallel diplomatic activity, including discussions between Pakistani and Iranian military and political figures, as part of broader regional engagement.
The Chinese leadership and Pakistani president also exchanged messages marking the anniversary of diplomatic ties, underscoring the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
