Electricity Distribution Company Deploys Smart Fault Detection System Across Power Network
Amman, May 20 (Petra) -- The Electricity Distribution Company announced Wednesday the rollout of a new smart monitoring system designed to detect power outages and technical faults across substations and distribution transformers in real time, as part of broader efforts to modernize grid management and improve service reliability.
The company said the system enables technical and maintenance teams to identify faults immediately after they occur without waiting for customer complaints or manual reporting.
According to the company, the platform was fully developed through local expertise in cooperation between specialized consultants and the company's information technology team, describing it as the first system of its kind in the region.
The system operates through a dedicated smart application that sends automatic round-the-clock alerts and notifications to technical teams whenever outages or communication failures occur within the company's electricity network.
The monitoring network covers more than 6,000 substations and distribution transformers serving the governorates of Karak, Tafilah, Ma'an and Aqaba, in addition to the Jordan Valley and eastern regions of the kingdom.
The company said the system also allows maintenance crews to navigate directly to outage locations through GPS technology while documenting technical procedures and maintenance responses electronically.
It added that the technology is expected to accelerate response times, strengthen operational efficiency and support continuity of electricity supply across its service areas.
The Electricity Distribution Company said it is currently developing additional advanced digital systems and technical applications in cooperation with local experts and its IT department, with further projects expected to be announced after completion of testing and development stages.
The company said the broader modernization efforts are aimed at enhancing electricity network management and improving the quality and reliability of services provided to subscribers.
