Profile Articles

I received my doctoral degree in Musicology from Duke University in 1994, with a dissertation on my rediscovery of Antonia Bembo (c.1640-c.1720). In that year, I began my professorship at Wellesley College, where I continue to work. My award-winning book, "Desperate Measures: The Life and Music of Antonia Padoani Bembo," was published by Oxford University Press in 2006. Over the course of the past two decades, my book has represented the gold standard for scholarship about the composer.
