Xi, Trump Pledge Closer Coordination on Global, Regional Matters

(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump have agreed to enhance dialogue and cooperation on international and regional affairs, according to official statements released Friday.

During Trump’s first trip to China since 2017, the two leaders reportedly conducted extensive discussions covering key bilateral and global topics. According to reports, the talks resulted in several “new common understandings” between Beijing and Washington.

The meeting follows a previous encounter between Xi and Trump last year during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit held in Busan, South Korea.

As part of the visit, Xi hosted an official welcoming ceremony and state banquet for the American president. The two leaders also participated in formal talks and toured the Temple of Heaven together on Thursday.

Officials said both sides endorsed a “new vision of building a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability to provide strategic guidance for China-US relations over the next three years and beyond, promote the steady, sound and sustainable development of China-US relations, and bring more peace, prosperity and progress to the world,” the spokesperson said.
