Xi Urges Stable US–China Ties, Says Relations Should ‘Never Be Ruined’
(MENAFN) China’s President Xi Jinping has called for stable and cooperative relations with the United States, warning that both sides must ensure their bilateral ties are not damaged, according to reports from the Beijing summit.
Speaking during a state banquet at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi emphasized that China and the US should prioritize partnership over rivalry.
“Achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and making America great again, can go hand in hand,” Xi said. “We can help each other succeed and advance the well-being of the whole world.”
He added that both countries regard their relationship as the most important bilateral tie globally, stressing the need to maintain stability.
“We both believe that the China-US relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world. We must make it work and never mess it up," Xi noted.
According to reports, Xi also said the two sides had maintained generally stable relations through continued communication, including meetings and phone calls between leaders.
He described the US president’s visit as historic and said cooperation benefits both nations, while confrontation leads to losses for both.
“Both China and the United States stand to gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation, our two countries should be partners rather than rivals,” he said.
Xi also warned that global conditions are becoming increasingly complex and that China–US relations have implications beyond the two countries.
“Both sides should rise up to this historic responsibility and steer the giant ship of China-US relations forward steadily and in the right direction,” he added.
According to reports, Xi did not directly mention Taiwan in the banquet speech, though his phrasing about the “rejuvenation of the Chinese nation” is often interpreted in broader geopolitical context.
