U.S. Naval Restrictions Leave Iranian Oil Cargoes Immobilized
(MENAFN) The American military has prevented over 70 oil tankers from docking at or departing from Iranian harbors, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Friday.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a publication shared on the social media network X that the commercial vessels are capable of carrying more than 166 million barrels of Iranian crude oil, estimated to be worth “$13 billion-plus.”
Since April 13, the United States has maintained a maritime blockade focused on Iranian sea traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
As reported by US Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation currently involves upwards of 15,000 military personnel, alongside 200 aircraft and 20 naval warships assigned to the mission.
The blockade has intensified strain on regional maritime trade and energy transportation, while security concerns continue to remain high around the strategic passageway, which serves as a vital bottleneck for worldwide crude oil shipments.
The newest data released by US Central Command (CENTCOM) indicates that a substantial amount of Iran-associated oil cargo is still stranded as the confrontation persists, potentially placing greater financial pressure on Tehran’s export income.
