Poland Aims to Build Europe’s Strongest, Largest Army by 2030

(MENAFN) Poland aims to build what officials describe as the “strongest and largest army in Europe” before the end of the decade, the country’s defense minister said Wednesday during a security conference in Warsaw, according to reports.

Speaking at the Defence24 Days event in the Polish capital, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said the government is pushing forward with an ambitious military expansion plan.

"By 2030, Poland will have the strongest and largest army in Europe … (and) the best organized and equipped,” Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, who also serves as deputy prime minister, said in his opening address at Defence24 Days, a security and defense conference in the capital Warsaw.

“This is our strategic goal, to which we are devoting all our possible actions,” he added.

As stated by reports, Warsaw intends to increase the size of its armed forces to 500,000 members. The proposed structure would include around 300,000 professional troops alongside 200,000 reservists prepared for rapid deployment.

The minister explained that Poland’s security framework is built around three key elements: a resilient society, a capable military, and strong international partnerships. He stressed that safeguarding the country requires participation from the wider population, not only the armed forces.

“There is no safe Poland without people who are involved in it,” he said, noting that civilian engagement would play a major role in responding to any future threats.

Kosiniak-Kamysz also said the country is preparing for possible dangers through what he described as “total defense,” a strategy combining both civilian and military systems.

According to the statement, Poland is currently carrying out what officials call the biggest defense investment program in the nation’s history, with the goal of creating a highly organized and modern military force.
