I started my career as a radio producer before moving into academia. My research looks at topics such as media and suicide, interviewing, environmental sustainability, and prison radio. These explore the social, cultural and ethical sides of broadcasting.
I'm interested in how history, emotion and production come together. In 2023, I co-edited 'The Bloomsbury Handbook of Radio', which brings together 30 international perspectives on radio and podcasting.
At heart, I'm a broadcasting historian, interested in how audio shapes emotion, intimacy and power.
