US Plans Commemorative Passports for 250th Anniversary

(MENAFN) According to reports, the US State Department is preparing to issue a limited series of specially designed passports to mark the country’s 250th anniversary. The initiative is expected to coincide with celebrations of Independence Day and the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

A department spokesperson confirmed that the commemorative documents are being developed as part of the national milestone. The official explained the purpose and design approach, stating:
“As the United States celebrates America’s 250th anniversary in July, the State Department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed U.S. Passports to commemorate this historic occasion,”

The spokesperson also emphasized that while the appearance of the passports will be updated with special imagery, their security standards will remain unchanged, adding:
“These passports will feature customized artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining the same security features that make the U.S. Passport the most secure documents in the world,”

Separate reporting citing individuals familiar with internal discussions indicates that one proposed design under consideration includes a very limited production run of passports incorporating a presidential portrait alongside historic American founding imagery. The reported concept is said to combine modern political symbolism with elements of foundational national documents.

According to those reports, the draft design being reviewed may include a presidential image placed over historical text elements, along with a signature and additional patriotic artwork on different sections of the passport.

Officials further clarified that the commemorative version would not impose any additional cost on applicants, and would remain consistent with standard passport issuance procedures.

The proposal remains under consideration, and final design details have not yet been officially confirmed.
