Iran Foreign Minister Plans to Revisit Pakistan Before Moscow Trip
(MENAFN) Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to return to Pakistan following his current visit to Oman, before travelling onward to Moscow, according to reports citing Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
Iran’s state media indicated that part of Araghchi’s delegation had already returned to Tehran after discussions in Islamabad, reportedly to receive further instructions related to efforts aimed at ending the conflict. The same reports added that the delegation is expected to regroup with Araghchi in Islamabad later on Sunday night.
Araghchi, who is leading a diplomatic team, arrived in Muscat on Saturday evening. On Sunday, he met with Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to discuss regional developments and ongoing mediation efforts connected to the US–Iran conflict.
His visit to Oman came directly after a trip to Pakistan, where he held talks with Pakistani officials on the possibility of a second round of negotiations with Washington.
The first round of discussions had taken place in Islamabad two weeks earlier but did not result in any agreement to end the conflict, according to reports.
Those diplomatic efforts followed a two-week ceasefire reportedly brokered by Pakistan on April 8, which was later extended by US President Donald Trump, as stated in the reports.
