Tucker Carlson Criticizes Trump Over War on Iran

(MENAFN) Tucker Carlson has publicly broken with US President Donald Trump over the ongoing Iran war, saying he feels “betrayed” by the direction of American foreign policy.

In comments made during an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Carlson said:

“I don’t hate Trump. I hate this war and the direction that the US government is taking,” adding that “I feel betrayed.”

He argued that the United States has drifted away from prioritizing its own citizens and described the situation as part of a broader, long-standing political problem that extends beyond the current administration. According to him, the issue is systemic rather than personal to Trump.

Carlson also suggested that Trump’s presidency did not fundamentally change the trajectory of US policy, stating that institutional forces remained dominant regardless of leadership.

“If anything, Trump just proved the system was stronger than him,” he said.

The remarks come amid escalating disagreement between Carlson and Trump over foreign policy. Trump has previously responded to Carlson’s criticism with personal attacks, including dismissive remarks about his intelligence and influence.

Carlson, who was once considered one of Trump’s most prominent media supporters, has increasingly positioned himself against US military involvement abroad, particularly in relation to the Iran conflict and broader Middle East policy.

The exchange highlights a widening divide within conservative political circles over interventionist foreign policy and the direction of US strategic priorities.
