US Strike Kills Two on Alleged Drug Boat in Pacific Ocean

(MENAFN) The US military says it carried out another strike on a vessel suspected of drug smuggling in the eastern Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, according to US Southern Command.

Southern Command, which oversees military operations across South and Central America and the Caribbean, announced the operation in a statement shared on social media on Friday.

Officials said intelligence indicated the boat was traveling along established narcotics trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific and was involved in drug trafficking activity.

In its statement, Southern Command described those killed as “two male narco-terrorists,” adding that no US personnel were injured in the operation.

The unit said the strike was ordered by the commander of US Southern Command and carried out by a joint task force as part of a broader campaign targeting vessels linked to designated groups involved in drug trafficking operations.

A video released by the unit appeared to show a small boat being hit, followed by a large explosion that set the vessel on fire.

According to reports, US forces have conducted multiple similar operations in recent months as part of an intensified campaign against suspected maritime drug trafficking routes toward the United States.
