Hamas Delegation, Malaysian Officials Discuss Palestinian Support Efforts

(MENAFN) A delegation from the Palestinian group Hamas held discussions with Malaysian officials on ways to support the Palestinian cause, according to a statement released by the group on Saturday.

The talks were part of a visit aimed at strengthening relations with Malaysia and reviewing developments related to the Palestinian issue, which the statement described in the context of ongoing hostilities and humanitarian challenges affecting Palestinians.

The delegation reportedly included senior figures such as Bassem Naim, Fawzi Barhoum, and the group’s representative in Malaysia.

According to reports, the meetings involved discussions with Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, as well as other government officials, political representatives, and civil society groups.

The discussions reportedly covered ongoing ceasefire-related negotiations and the humanitarian situation in Gaza, with emphasis placed on conditions on the ground and continued violations of existing arrangements, as described by the group.

A ceasefire has been in place in the Gaza Strip since October 2025, though the statement claims that violations have continued. The truce followed an extended conflict in the territory that, according to reports cited in the statement, resulted in significant casualties and widespread destruction.
