Iran FM Meets Pakistan PM Amid Efforts to Revive US–Iran Peace Talks


(MENAFN) Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Saturday, as diplomatic efforts continue to revive stalled discussions between Iran and the United States, according to reports.

The meeting was confirmed through an official statement and video released by the Pakistani prime minister’s office, and also included Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as well as army chief Asim Munir, as stated by reports.

According to Sharif’s office, the discussions focused on the regional situation and broader bilateral relations. After the meeting, Sharif wrote on the social media platform X that the exchange was “warm” and “cordial,” adding that both sides discussed strengthening Pakistan–Iran ties alongside current regional developments.

Ishaq Dar said the talks lasted around two hours, noting that Sharif stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in maintaining regional and international stability, according to reports.

Following the Islamabad engagements, Araghchi departed for planned visits to Muscat and Russia, according to Pakistani sources.

Earlier in the visit, Araghchi also held a separate meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir, who had recently traveled to Tehran, as stated by reports.
