(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) Peshawar has witnessed an important and historic development, where a member of the transgender community, Sobia Khan-popularly known as“Bebo”-has been appointed as a warden in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prisons Department.

In Pakistan, transgender individuals have long faced social discrimination, economic hardships, and limited access to dignified employment. In this context, Sobia Khan's achievement is being seen as a positive and encouraging sign of change.

Experts are calling her appointment a milestone, demonstrating that when institutions provide equal opportunities, individuals can progress based on their abilities. This development also reinforces the idea that a person's competence, hard work, and professional capability should take precedence over their identity.

Saeeda Khan, President of the All Artists Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, welcomed the decision and appreciated the efforts of the provincial government, especially the Chief Minister, Secretary of Interior, and officials of the Prisons Department.

She stated that this step will not only fill an important gap in representation but also lay the foundation for more inclusive and progressive policymaking in the future.

Social circles have also termed this appointment a positive development.

Observers believe that this move will help build trust between the transgender community and state institutions, improve societal attitudes, and contribute to creating a more harmonious and inclusive society.

According to experts, Sobia Khan's appointment as a prison warden marks the beginning of a new era-one that highlights that decisions based on justice, equality, and merit are essential for building a strong and balanced society.
