Drone Strike in Russia’s Samara Region Collapses Apartment Block

(MENAFN) According to reports, a Ukrainian drone attack caused the partial collapse of a residential apartment building in the city of Syzran in Russia’s Samara Region, resulting in casualties and multiple injuries.

Regional authorities said two people, including a woman and a child, were killed after being pulled from the rubble of the four-story building. Local officials reported that at least 12 others were injured, with some requiring hospital treatment while others received medical assistance at the scene.

Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed the fatalities in a statement, expressing condolences to the victims’ families and describing the incident as a “criminal act against civilians.”

Emergency services reported that among the injured were children, and that a large-scale rescue operation was launched involving hundreds of personnel and dozens of units of specialized equipment. Search and recovery efforts continued for several hours as rescuers worked through the debris.

Authorities also reported additional damage in the area, including a fire in another residential building believed to have been caused by drone debris. While no injuries were reported in that incident, nearby vehicles were reportedly destroyed.

Local emergency officials said investigations and response operations were ongoing to assess the full extent of the damage and determine further details surrounding the attack.
