Zelenskyy Visits Netherlands to Meet with Dutch Prime Minister
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy touched down in the Netherlands on Thursday, continuing a high-intensity European diplomatic offensive that has already taken him through Germany, Norway, and Italy in a single week, as Kyiv races to lock in deeper security commitments from its allies.
The visit centers on the city of Middelburg, where Zelenskyy attended the Four Freedoms Awards ceremony and accepted the International Four Freedoms Award on behalf of himself and the Ukrainian people, according to Ukrinform, Ukraine's state news agency, citing its correspondent on the ground.
His Dutch itinerary also includes a sit-down with Prime Minister Rob Jetten, who last month made Ukraine the destination of only his second foreign visit since assuming office in February — a gesture widely read as a signal of The Hague's strengthening commitment to Kyiv.
The Netherlands stop caps a week of accelerating bilateral diplomacy. Earlier, Zelenskyy indicated that Kyiv was laying the groundwork for broader European security arrangements and expected to "achieve results this very week."
That pledge has already begun to materialize in concrete terms. During his stop in Berlin, Kyiv and Germany formalized a data-sharing agreement between their respective defense ministries and signed a joint declaration of intent covering "support of industrial recovery and resilience" between their economy ministries.
In Oslo on Tuesday, Zelenskyy sat down with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and put pen to paper on a joint declaration committing both nations to enhanced defense and security cooperation.
Wednesday's stop in Rome yielded its own set of outcomes. Zelenskyy and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni agreed to task their respective teams with working through the technical details of a drone deal, while also pledging to expand engagement between their countries' defense industries, Zelenskyy said following the meeting.
