Indian Railways Dominates World Rankings With 6 Longest Platforms, Hubballi Junction Tops The List

India dominates global rail infrastructure with 6 of the world's 7 longest railway platforms. Hubballi Junction tops the list, followed by Gorakhpur, showcasing Indian Railways' massive scale.

Indian Railways is one of the world's largest public transport systems. It's now challenging global giants in infrastructure, especially with its super-long platforms. Out of the top 7, six are in India, with only one from the USA making the list.Karnataka's Sri Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Junction holds the record for the world's longest platform at 1,507 meters. It's even in the Guinness World Records and is key to managing heavy passenger traffic and smooth train operations.

Once the world's longest, Gorakhpur Junction in Uttar Pradesh is now second with a 1,366-meter platform. Before Hubballi's new record, Gorakhpur held the top spot and still impresses visitors with its massive structure.

Kerala's Kollam Junction has the world's third-longest platform, stretching about 1,180 meters. It's a vital station in the Southern Railway corridor, handling huge crowds and playing a key role in the network.West Bengal's Kharagpur Junction, once a benchmark, is now fourth in the world with its 1,072-meter platform. The only non-Indian station on the list, Chicago's State Street Subway (1,067m), comes in at fifth place.

Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur Junction is sixth with a 1,055-meter platform, making it one of India's busiest stations. In seventh place is Veerangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Junction in UP, with a platform length of 1,050 meters.
