Art Dubai 2026 Special Edition Exhibitors Announced

(MENAFN- USA Art News) Art Dubai trims its 2026 fair and bets on the region

Art Dubai is taking a leaner approach in 2026. The fair's special edition will run May 15–17 at Madinat Jumeirah, with a VIP preview on May 14, and will bring together roughly 75 presentations across galleries, institutions, and partners.

The exhibitor list points to a deliberate recalibration. About 60 percent of participants come from the Gulf and Southwest Asia, underscoring the fair's effort to concentrate on galleries with deep regional roots at a moment when the art market is contending with instability and higher operating costs. Returning names include The Third Line, Lawrie Shabibi, Carbon 12, Ayyam Gallery, and Tabari Artspace, alongside international galleries such as Perrotin, Galleria Continua, Waddington Custot, and Galerie Frank Elbaz.

Rather than expanding outward, the 2026 edition is being shaped as a more focused platform. Organizers say the program will span contemporary, modern, and digital practices, with a stronger emphasis on institutional collaborations and commissioned work. Large-scale installations and new commissions by Khalid Al Banna, Hashel Al Lamki, and Sudarshan Shetty are among the planned highlights.

The fair's partnerships further reinforce that shift. Alserkal Avenue, Art Jameel, and the Sharjah Art Foundation are all involved, suggesting a model in which the fair functions less as a pure marketplace than as a regional convening point for artists, institutions, and collectors.

The most consequential change may be financial. Art Dubai is introducing a risk-sharing model that ties booth costs to sales performance, a rare move in the fair sector and a clear sign of pressure on galleries. As fairs worldwide face uneven sales and rising expenses, the Dubai edition appears to be testing a smaller, more resilient formula - one that privileges regional depth over global scale.
