NIA Files Supplementary Chargesheet Against Muzaffarpur Man In Illegal Arms Smuggling Case
The chargesheet was submitted before the NIA Special Court in Patna, invoking multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Arms Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
With this, Kundan Kumar becomes the sixth accused to be chargesheeted in the case.
The case originated after the Bihar Police seized an AK-47 rifle along with a lens, exposing a larger illegal arms network operating in the state.
According to NIA investigations, Kundan Kumar was actively involved in procuring and smuggling prohibited bore weapons from Nagaland.
These weapons were allegedly supplied to Naxalites and criminal groups in Bihar as part of a larger conspiracy.
He was arrested by the NIA in November 2025 following sustained investigations into the network.
According to the NIA, Kundan Kumar conspired with other accused persons as part of a well-organised weapons smuggling racket operating across Bihar.
Following a detailed investigation, the agency has charged him under various sections of the IPC, the Arms Act, and the UAPA.
The NIA stated that investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the syndicate and dismantle the illegal arms smuggling network operating across states.
The agency had earlier chargesheeted four accused -- Vikash Kumar, Devmani Rai, Satyam Kumar, and Ahmad Ansari -- in May 2025.
Subsequently, a fifth accused, Manjoor Khan, was chargesheeted in February 2026.
This development underscores the agency's continued crackdown on organised arms trafficking and its links to extremist and criminal elements in the region.
Earlier, on April 6, a joint operation by the NIA and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) raided multiple locations in Bihar Sharif, targeting a suspected arms trafficking network.
The raids were conducted at nearly 10 locations, including a gun shop and a jewellery store in the Laheri locality under the Laheri Police Station jurisdiction.
