Romuald Wadagni Wins Benin Presidential Election

Cotonou: Benin's Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni, a candidate of the ruling coalition, won the country's presidential elections held on Sunday.

Head of Benin's Independent Electoral Commission Sacca Lafia, said Wadagni received more than 94 percent of the vote after more than 90 percent of the votes had been counted.

Lafia pointed out that the participation rate in the elections reached 58.78 percent of registered voters.

The presidential candidates were Wadagni and Paul Hounkpè, the only opposition candidate who conceded defeat in the election.
