Trump Suggests US May Target Cuba After Iran War Ends
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has said the United States “may stop by Cuba” after what he described as the conclusion of ongoing military action involving Iran, adding to his recent comments outlining foreign policy priorities.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump described Cuba as a struggling nation and suggested it could become a focus after current international operations.
“Cuba is a failing nation, and we're going to do this, and we may stop by Cuba after we're finished with this,” he said, referring to US engagements involving Iran. “Cuba is a nation that was ... horribly run for many years,” he added.
He also pointed to Cuban-American communities in the United States, saying many support his policies and have raised concerns about conditions on the island.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Havana, with Cuban leadership warning against any potential military escalation.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has previously rejected the possibility of US military action, stating that such a move would lack justification and would be met with resistance.
He emphasized that Cubans would defend their country even under extreme circumstances, according to comments reported in recent interviews.
