L-G Sinha Urges Societal Shift Aimed At Rehabilitation & Compassion For Drug Addiction Victims In J&K
Taking to social media platform X, the L-G said, "Today, under Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir campaign, I addressed a public rally in Kathua & launched a people's movement against narcotics. Let's build a J&K where our youth's energy illuminates the world, not destroys itself. Let us confront this challenge with unyielding resolve."
L-G Sinha has launched a people's movement against narcotics under the 'Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir' campaign, asserting that the next three months would lay the foundation for a lasting transformation in the Union Territory.
Addressing a public rally in Jammu's Kathua, the L-G emphasised that the campaign's focus would be on compassionate rehabilitation, urging a fundamental shift in societal mindset.
"We must shift our mindset: addicts are patients and they need our help and support," he said.
Calling upon the public to confront the drug menace with unyielding resolve, the L-G stressed the need to channel the energy of the youth constructively.
"Let us build a J&K where our youth's energy illuminates the world, not destroys itself," he added.
L-G Sinha also asserted that the drive over the next three months would not be a routine campaign but a transformative initiative aimed at bringing enduring change to the region.
While launching the 100-day long 'Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan' last week, the L-G announced cancellation of passport, Aadhaar card, driving licence and attachment of properties as punitive measures against drug smugglers and drug peddlers and those involved in hawala money rackets.
It is believed that funds generated through these rackets are used to sustain terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
