Keith M. Bellizzi

Keith M. Bellizzi, PhD, MPH, is a Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences at the University of Connecticut (UConn) with a joint appointment in the Center for Public Health and Health Policy. Before joining UConn, he was a Health Scientist in the Office of Cancer Survivorship at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and a graduate of NCI's Cancer Prevention and Control Fellowship Program. He is also a Fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine.
Dr. Bellizzi's research focuses on resilience, chronic illness, and healthy aging. He has led federally and privately funded studies, including NIH-supported work on resilience trajectories in adults with cancer, and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and books. His work has been featured in major outlets including ABC News, the Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times.
A four-time cancer survivor, Dr. Bellizzi combines personal experience with research to help those navigating cancer. Some of his most fulfilling work comes from translating science to the public, the people our research is meant to serve, through writing, talks, and media engagement.
