China Issues Measures to Respond to Foreign Legal Actions

(MENAFN) China has rolled out 20 fresh regulations aimed at addressing foreign “unlawful extraterritorial jurisdiction” practices, following a State Council directive endorsed by Premier Li Qiang.

According to a report by a News Agency, these provisions characterize such foreign actions as those breaching international law or undermining China’s sovereignty, national interests, or the rights of its citizens and companies.

The framework also grants authorities the power to implement counteractions and assert extraterritorial authority when there is an adequate legal connection.

Additionally, the policy introduces a “malicious entity list,” which will include overseas individuals and institutions deemed harmful.

The measures further forbid any entity or person from carrying out or supporting these unlawful actions. They also permit impacted Chinese individuals and businesses to initiate legal proceedings against those accountable, with backing from the government.
