Interior Ministry Issues Safety Advisory As Maritime Navigation Fully Resumes
Doha, Qatar: As maritime navigation becomes fully operational for all types of vessels, the Ministry of Interior has issued a set of safety reminders for marine trips.
In a social media post, the Ministry's General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security reminded seagoers to ensure that life jackets, flotation devices, and marine compasses are available onboard their vessels.
Before heading out, navigators are advised to check weather conditions and inform family members of their destination and expected return time.
The Ministry also advised operators to install and use the Automatic Identification System (AIS) when at sea, as well as monitor VHF radio Channel 16.
