Afghanistan, China Review Health Cooperation, Capacity Building Efforts

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Officials from Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Health and a Chinese technical delegation have held discussions on strengthening bilateral health cooperation, enhancing technical capacity and promoting the development of traditional medicine.

In a statement posted today (Friday) on its X account, the Ministry said the meeting took place at its headquarters in Kabul.

The discussions followed the recent visit of Afghanistan's Minister of Public Health, Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali, along with a technical delegation, to China.

The meeting focused on advancing the key issues raised during that visit.

According to the Ministry, both sides explored opportunities to build scientific capacity in traditional medicine, improve disaster management, and strengthen the skills of healthcare workers.

They also discussed establishing a traditional medicine center in Afghanistan and inviting Chinese specialists to support local efforts.

These initiatives are intended to enhance the capacity of Afghan professionals in monitoring and preventing infectious diseases.

The statement further noted that topics previously discussed with the Deputy Head of China's National Health Commission were reviewed to ensure formal follow-up.

Additionally, Afghan officials confirmed that matters raised during the China visit have been shared with relevant institutions through the Afghan Embassy in Beijing, with ongoing coordination planned.

Both sides expressed hope that commitments and agreements reached in earlier meetings would be implemented in a phased manner.
