Jolel Miah

Dr Jolel Miah is a Senior Lecturer in Health Psychology at the University of Westminster, as well as a Chartered Psychologist and Health Psychologist. With experience in applied psychology, research, and teaching, Jolel is also a board member of the British Psychological Society's Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
He earned his BSc in Psychology from the University of Hertfordshire and an MSc in Health Psychology from the University of Bedfordshire. Jolel completed two doctorates: a PhD and the Stage 2 Qualification in Health Psychology (Independent Route), dedicating over 17,000 hours across eight years to his portfolio. His research focuses on psychological frameworks for public interventions in physical activity. His diverse professional experience spans commissioning, mental health, charities, sexual health, and the prison service.
In 2014, Jolel co-founded the mental health charity Our Minds Matter, which offers psychoeducation on mental health within faith communities and consultancy for local wellbeing services. He also hosts Psychology Cast, a podcast exploring motivation through interviews, and produces the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in Health Psychology Podcast.
