Abeer Elshater

• Professor of Urban Morphology, Ain Shams University

Abeer Elshater is a Professor of Urban Morphology at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, and served as an Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Egypt (2022–2026). She is also an Adjunct Professor at the American University in Cairo. She previously supervised the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) and was a reviewer for Egypt's National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NQAAE). She has been involved in several funded research projects and collaborated with international universities. Elshater has published extensively in prestigious journals on Urban Design and Architecture. She is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Urban Design and Planning (ICE) and an Associate Editor for journals published by Elsevier, Emerald, Springer, and PLOS. She is also a Regional Studies Association Ambassador (UK).
