Iran Claims UAE Has Joined Conflict Against It

(MENAFN) Iranian state media on Saturday asserted that the United Arab Emirates has become involved in the ongoing conflict with Iran.

According to reports, Iran’s state-run broadcaster stated on social media that two pieces of evidence point to UAE participation. It cited the destruction of a Chinese WingLoong-2 drone on April 1, described as “only in the possession of Saudi Arabia and the UAE,” along with the interception of an “Emirati Mirage 2000 fighter jet over Iran's Jask Island on March 22," as proof of the UAE’s involvement.

These claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate response from the UAE regarding the report.

Tensions in the region have intensified following a joint US-Israel offensive against Iran that began on Feb. 28, which has reportedly resulted in over 1,340 casualties, including the death of Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military assets.
