Iran Claims A-10 US-Israeli Jet Targeted by Its Air Defenses

(MENAFN) Iran’s military reported that a US A-10 aircraft, involved in US-Israeli operations, was struck by the country’s integrated air defense systems, according to a state broadcaster on Friday evening.

The Army Public Relations office confirmed that the A-10 was hit by air defenses and crashed into the waters of the Persian Gulf. The statement did not provide further details about the incident, including whether the pilot survived, but indicated that additional information would be shared in the coming hours.

This incident marks another escalation in the tense situation over the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic chokepoint for global energy supplies, which has seen increased military activity since the US and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran earlier this year. The region has remained on high alert as both sides continue to conduct operations and respond to previous strikes, raising international concern over the potential impact on maritime traffic and oil shipments.
