Based on reports that the pub was hosting a high-profile event featuring international DJ 'Black Coffee', EAGLE organized six specialized teams to execute a surprise inspection.
The agency stated that it launched the operation to suppress widespread drug misuse taking place within pubs, hotels, and various public venues.
Before the intervention, intelligence was compiled on the guests, leading to the shortlisting of 64 individuals suspected of substance use.
Without interrupting the festivities, the squads performed a sudden check and selected five specific persons for screening.
Utilising urine-based diagnostic kits, four subjects tested positive for marijuana (ganja ) and benzodiazepines.
Subsequent testing identified three additional individuals positive for marijuana and methamphetamine.
Consequently, seven people were confirmed to have consumed narcotics and were transferred to police custody, the statement noted.
The detainees voluntarily "confessed" to the drug use. Data regarding their supply networks was gathered, and their families or guardians will be notified to facilitate enrollment in rehabilitation programs, aiming to intervene before severe addiction develops, officials said.
Legal proceedings have been initiated under the applicable sections of the NDPS Act, 1985, and a deeper investigation is currently underway.
