Rubber Knowledge II: Natural Rubber (NR) Industry Trends And Best Practices

(MENAFN- GetNews) Natural rubber is a natural polymer extracted from the latex of the Hevea brasiliensis tree. It is made into an elastic solid through processes such as coagulation and drying. Its main component is cis-1,4-polyisoprene (accounting for 91% to 94%), with the rest being non-rubber substances such as proteins and fatty acids.

Core Characteristics:

Physical Properties:

(1) High elasticity and wear resistance: The tensile strength is high (16.7 - 34.3 MPa), the elongation rate can reach 650% - 900%, and the recovery elasticity is excellent (70% - 95%)

(2) Temperature adaptability: Long-term working temperature range: -55°C to +70°C. Short-term tolerance: up to 100°C. Low-temperature brittleness point: approximately -50°C.

(3) Electrical insulation: Excellent insulation performance, suitable for wires and cables

Chemical Weaknesses:

(1) Poor oil resistance: Easily swollen in mineral oil and gasoline (swelling rate: 80% - 300%)

(2) Poor resistance to aging: Easily affected by ozone, ultraviolet rays and high temperatures, and requires the addition of anti-aging agents.

(3) Limited resistance to acids and alkalis: Weak acids can be tolerated, but strong acids (such as hydrochloric acid and nitric acid) are highly corrosive.

Main applications:

(1) Tires (accounting for over 70%), rubber hoses, conveyor belts, shock absorbers, and other dynamic load components

(2) Rubber shoes, medical gloves (requiring modification to enhance weather resistance)

4. Product type: O-ring, custom-made product for customers, Rubber Gaskets / Flat Washer Seals / Rubber Spacer / Washer Rubber Ring etc.
