Türkiye's BIST 100 Closes Friday in Red


(MENAFN) Türkiye's flagship equity index closed in the red Friday, capping the week with a modest decline as selling pressure outweighed early gains throughout the session.

The Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index settled at 12,698.19 points — shedding 28.87 points from Thursday's close after opening the day at 12,802.98. The index swung between a session low of 12,601.60 and a peak of 12,825.01 before finishing the day down 0.23%.

Breadth was notably negative, with 65 index constituents declining against just 32 advancing stocks.

The index's total market capitalization stood at approximately 12.4 trillion Turkish liras — equivalent to roughly $279.5 billion — while daily trading volume reached 112 billion liras ($2.52 billion), reflecting steady investor participation despite the downward drift.

On the commodities front, gold surged to $4,530 per ounce, while Brent crude futures held firm at $111.4 per barrel as of 6:50 p.m. local time (1550 GMT).

Currency markets showed the US dollar buying 44.4595 Turkish liras, while the euro fetched 51.3085 liras and the British pound exchanged hands at 59.2100 liras.
