Singapore Signals New Job Opportunities For Bangladeshi Workers

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: Bangladeshi workers could see expanded employment opportunities in Singapore as the city-state moves ahead with large-scale infrastructure and land development projects, including the construction of a new terminal at Changi Airport, according to Singapore's envoy in Dhaka.

The prospect was highlighted during a meeting between Singapore's Chargé d'Affaires Mitchel Lee and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 25.

The envoy noted that Bangladeshi workers continue to enjoy a strong reputation in Singapore, and upcoming mega projects are expected to generate fresh demand for both skilled and semi-skilled labor. He pointed to infrastructure expansion and land development initiatives as key drivers behind the anticipated hiring.

Shama Obaed Islam underscored the government's focus on creating overseas employment opportunities, stressing the importance of vocational training and skill development to better position Bangladeshi workers for emerging roles abroad.

The discussion also reflected broader efforts to deepen Bangladesh–Singapore ties, including progress toward a proposed Free Trade Agreement and cooperation in sectors such as digital infrastructure, energy, and investment.

Both sides expressed optimism that enhanced collaboration and upcoming projects in Singapore would translate into tangible job prospects for Bangladeshi workers, reinforcing long-standing people-to-people connections between the two countries.
