Turkish-Operated Oil Tanker Gets Hit by Drone in Black Sea
(MENAFN) A foreign-flagged, Turkish-operated crude oil tanker was targeted on Thursday in a drone attack in the Black Sea near Istanbul, with no injuries reported among the crew, according to officials.
The vessel, carrying a shipment of crude oil, appeared to have its engine room as the primary target, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said during a live broadcast.
He emphasized that the crew remained unharmed despite the attack.
At the time of the incident, 27 Turkish crew members were aboard the tanker, all of whom were reported safe and accounted for. The minister added that relevant authorities and emergency response teams were immediately directed to the scene to assess the damage and ensure the situation remained under control.
Authorities continue to closely monitor the vessel and surrounding waters for any additional threats, while investigations are underway to determine the origin of the attack and prevent similar incidents in the region.
