Türkiye's Foreign Minister Holds Emergency Calls Over Iran War

(MENAFN) Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held separate high-stakes phone calls Wednesday with his Iranian and Pakistani counterparts as the deadly US-Israel war on Iran continues to destabilize the region, Turkish diplomatic sources confirmed.

Fidan and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi addressed the "latest situation in the war" directly, according to those sources, signaling mounting diplomatic urgency as the conflict grinds on with no ceasefire in sight.

In a second call, Fidan and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar exchanged efforts aimed at halting a conflict that erupted after the United States and Israel launched a coordinated military offensive against Iran on Feb. 28 — a campaign that has now claimed more than 1,340 lives, among them then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Since that offensive began, Tehran has unleashed waves of drone and missile strikes against Israel and extended its retaliation to Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting American military installations. The strikes have inflicted casualties, battered critical infrastructure, and sent shockwaves through global financial markets and international air travel.

Regional tensions show no sign of abating, with Wednesday's flurry of diplomatic contacts underscoring the deepening alarm among neighboring governments over the war's widening reach and humanitarian toll.
