Israel Intercepts Rockets Fired from Lebanon

(MENAFN) Projectiles fired from Lebanon toward central Israel on Thursday were successfully intercepted, according to reports citing Israeli media.

Authorities indicated that six rockets were identified and neutralized, while emergency response units were sent to examine areas linked to reported impacts.

The Lebanese group Hezbollah later announced that it had launched what it described as “precision missiles” targeting Israeli military positions in Tel Aviv.

In its statement, the group said the intended targets included the Kirya complex, which serves as the headquarters for Israel’s Defense Ministry, as well as the Dolphin barracks associated with the military intelligence division in central Israel.

The developments come as Israel continues an extensive military campaign in Lebanon, involving heavy airstrikes and a ground operation in the south, following a cross-border assault by Hezbollah on March 2, as stated by reports.

Lebanese officials report that at least 1,094 people have been killed and 3,119 wounded since the escalation began.

This surge in hostilities is also unfolding in the context of a broader US-Israeli offensive against Iran, which has reportedly resulted in more than 1,340 deaths since Feb. 28. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel as well as locations in Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf countries that host US military facilities.
