US Secretary of State to Visit France for G7 Talks

(MENAFN) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to visit France on Friday to attend a Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers’ meeting, according to a statement from the US State Department.

The meeting will bring together foreign ministers from allied nations to discuss shared security challenges and avenues for international cooperation. Key topics on the agenda are expected to include the ongoing war in Ukraine and escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The visit comes at a time of heightened regional instability following military strikes involving the United States and Israel against Iran since late February. These developments have led to continued exchanges of attacks across multiple fronts in the region.

Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as locations in Gulf countries that host US military forces. The broader conflict has also contributed to disruptions in critical maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, which plays a major role in global oil transportation and energy markets.

In parallel, diplomatic activity continues alongside the military tensions, with international actors seeking to manage escalation risks and address security concerns through multilateral discussions such as the G7 meeting.
