Iranian President Names Preconditions to End Conflict with US, Israel
(MENAFN) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has outlined several conditions he says are necessary to bring the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel to an end, according to reports.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Pezeshkian stated that "the only way" to end its war with the United States and Israel "is recognizing Iran's legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm international guarantees against future aggression." He also expressed "Iran's commitment to peace in the region."
Earlier the same day, Iran’s armed forces warned that any U.S. strike targeting Iranian ports would trigger a major retaliation. The warning came after U.S. Central Command posted a message in Persian on X advising civilians in Iran to stay away from port facilities where Iranian naval forces are currently conducting operations.
Abolfazl Shekarchi, a spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces, addressed the issue in an interview with state television, warning of a strong response. "If the United States carries out its threat against Iran's ports, no port, economic center, or point in the Persian Gulf will be out of our reach," Shekarchi said.
The conflict escalated on Feb. 28 when Israel and the United States launched coordinated strikes on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, according to reports. The attacks resulted in the death of Iran’s then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders and civilians.
Iran later responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli and U.S. positions across the Middle East.
