US Commanders Tell Troops Iran Conflict Part of Divine Plan—Watchdog

(MENAFN) A US watchdog says that American service members from all branches of the military have been told by commanders that the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran is meant to bring about the Biblical end times, or Armageddon.

“This morning our commander opened up the combat readiness status briefing by urging us to not be ‘afraid’ as to what is happening with our combat operations in Iran right now,” a non-commissioned officer wrote in a complaint sent to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF).

“He urged us to tell our troops that this was ‘all part of God's divine plan’ and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ.”

The MRFF, a non-profit group that defends religious freedom for military personnel, received the complaint from the officer on behalf of himself and 15 other members of his unit stationed in the region in a “ready-support” role. Among the group, at least 10 were Christians, one was Jewish, one was Muslim, and the religious affiliation of the remaining three members was unknown.

The foundation has collected over 200 similar complaints from more than 50 military units since Saturday, when US President Donald Trump announced the start of extensive strikes against Iran in coordination with Israel.

Trump has given mixed statements about the war’s objectives. In a brief phone interview with The Washington Post on Saturday, he described the campaign as aiming to bring “freedom” to the Iranian people, a veiled reference to potential regime change.
