Kuwait: Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced Tuesday that two overhead electricity transmission lines in the south of the country were taken out of service after shrapnel fell as a result of intercepting a number of drones.

The ministry's official spokesperson, Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, said in a press statement that the incident did not result in any power outages, as electrical loads were supplied through alternative lines in accordance with the approved operational plan, ensuring continuity of service to customers and stability of the power grid.

She explained that specialised emergency teams began work immediately after the incident and are assessing the damage and carrying out the necessary repairs in line with the highest safety standards and approved technical procedures.

The ministry confirmed that the electricity and water situation remains under control, and that the electricity generation and water desalination systems, as well as their transmission networks, are operating at high efficiency, with continuous monitoring around the clock to ensure the stability and uninterrupted provision of services.
