Authorities Identify Russian Serviceman Who Tortured Resident Of Snihurivka With Electric Shocks

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office stated this on Facebook.

"On February 27, 2026, a notice of suspicion was served to the commander of a squad of the 2nd reconnaissance platoon of the 1st reconnaissance company of the 205th Separate Motorized Rifle Cossack Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces for cruel treatment of civilians and other violations of the laws and customs of war committed by a group of persons upon prior conspiracy (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement reads.

According to the investigation, in August 2022, during the temporary occupation of the Snihurivka community, the suspect, together with other unidentified Russian servicemen, unlawfully deprived a 44-year-old resident of the village of Pavlivka of his liberty. The man was held against his will while they attempted to extract information from him about Ukrainian law enforcement officers and military personnel living in the community.

In order to intimidate him and obtain fabricated "confessions," the occupiers subjected the civilian to torture: they beat him with metal rods and a whip and tortured him with electric shocks, causing unbearable physical pain and moral suffering.

The prosecutor's office emphasized that such actions constitute a gross violation of international humanitarian law and qualify as torture and inhuman treatment of civilians – crimes that have no statute of limitations and cannot be justified under any circumstances.

As previously reported, in the Mykolaiv region a Russian serviceman was sentenced to 10 years in prison for abusing a civilian woman.
