Qatar Press Center Slams Attacks On Qatar, GCC States

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Press Center strongly condemns, in the strongest terms, the blatant Iranian military attacks targeting the State of Qatar and other GCC states, carried out with ballistic missiles.

These acts constitute a flagrant violation of national sovereignty, a direct assault on the security and territorial integrity of the states concerned, and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability, undermines the foundations of regional peace, and places the security of peoples at grave risk.

The Center affirms that this aggression represents a clear breach of international law and the principles of good neighborliness, and an unjustifiable act under any pretext, given the grave threat it poses to the security and stability of nations. It further includes the targeting of civilian and strategic facilities, the intimidation of populations, and the undermining of efforts aimed at consolidating regional security and building bridges of trust and understanding among states.

The Center stresses that Qatar has consistently pursued a policy of dialogue and peaceful solutions, and has sincerely sought to spare the region the causes of tension and conflict.

However, the targeting of its territory contradicts the principles of good neighborliness, erodes the foundations of trust, and threatens the stability of the entire region.

In these sensitive circumstances, the Center underscores that professional and responsible media constitute the first line of defense in times of crisis and serve as a national shield in protecting the home front and strengthening social cohesion.

It calls on press and media institutions to uphold their national and historic responsibilities by strictly adhering to accuracy and objectivity, verifying information through official sources, firmly confronting attempts at misinformation and the spread of rumors, and refraining from circulating or recycling misleading reports.

The Center also emphasizes the importance of guiding public awareness, promoting a culture of verification, and strengthening trust in credible information to safeguard society against media warfare and reinforce social peace in the face of aggression.

In this regard, the Center urges the public not to be swayed by rumors, false news, or disinformation campaigns on social media aimed at spreading confusion and destabilizing society, stressing that promoting such content may subject individuals to legal accountability.

The Center further calls on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by taking clear positions and deterrent measures to halt these violations, affirm respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and support efforts to de-escalate tensions and reinforce security and stability in the region.

The Qatari Center for Press renews its affirmation that the security and stability of the Gulf are a red line, and that unity and Gulf solidarity constitute the fundamental pillar for safeguarding sovereignty, protecting peoples, and confronting challenges.
