China Calls for Immediate Halt to Military Activity Near Strait of Hormuz
(MENAFN) China has urged all parties to immediately halt military operations in the Middle East, warning that ongoing tensions could have serious repercussions on global trade and energy markets, as stated by reports.
At a daily press briefing, foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters as key international trade routes for goods and energy. She called for actions to prevent further escalation in the region, in response to recent US and Israeli military strikes against Iran.
Earlier, Iranian authorities reportedly declared the Strait of Hormuz unsafe for shipping, following attacks by US and Israeli forces, effectively closing the vital oil and gas waterway.
