U.S. B-2 Bombers Strike Iran's Ballistic Missile Facilities

(MENAFN) US B-2 stealth bombers carried out overnight strikes against Iran's "hardened ballistic missile facilities," US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed Sunday, marking a dramatic escalation in the joint American-Israeli military campaign now entering its second day.

CENTCOM disclosed via US social media company X that the bombers were loaded with 2,000-pound (907-kilogram) bombs during the operation, underscoring the sheer destructive scale of the mission.

The strike represents the second major combat deployment of B-2 stealth bombers against Iran. Their first use came last June, when the aircraft were dispatched to demolish Iran's three principal nuclear installations at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan during the 12-day Israel-Iran war — strikes President Trump has personally credited with obliterating Iran's nuclear capabilities entirely.

Sunday's assault forms a critical component of the broader joint US-Israeli military campaign launched Saturday, which has already eliminated several of Iran's most senior leadership figures, among them Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran has since unleashed retaliatory waves of drone and missile strikes across Gulf nations in response.

The human cost to American forces is also growing. Three US service members have been killed and five others seriously wounded since combat operations commenced.
